OFFICERS
Keith Kelly is an entrepreneur who created and patented the Mortgage Annual Revenue
Stream (MARS; U.S. Patent # 7292995), the platform that enabled the introduction
of the Harmony Loan. A seasoned retail mortgage banking executive, Mr. Kelly has
been an advocate for proper homeowner education for nearly two decades, focusing
on strategies to avoid paying closing costs. His closing-cost savings platform has
been featured in Money, The Washington Post, Time, New York Times, Woman’s World,
CNBC and a host of other national publications. He successfully beta tested components
of the Mortgage Harmony platform with National City Mortgage from 2002-2005, closing
over $1.3 billion in loans. His research and development provides proprietary consumer
behavior patterns necessary for the proper structuring of a modifiable mortgage.
When combined with the patented MARS system, some of the biggest problems facing
the mortgage industry today are solved. He is also host of MyMortgageWatchDog (a
mortgage educational talk show) in Washington, D.C. Mr. Kelly has a bachelor’s degree
from James Madison University.
Mr. Catalanotto oversees the daily operations of the company and is responsible
for the implementation of its strategic plan. Mr. Catalanotto has more than 25 years
of experience in the financial services industry, mainly in the secondary mortgage
market at Fannie Mae. He has significant experience in all aspects of business strategy,
data warehousing, business intelligence, new product development, management and
mortgage operations. Prior to joining Fannie Mae, Mr. Catalanotto was with GW Fauth
and Associates, an economic consulting firm in Washington DC. Currently, Mr. Catalanotto
is the Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Fannie Mae Federal Credit Union,
having served in various leadership roles there for more then 15 years. Mr. Catalanotto
has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from CW Post College in New York and a master’s
degree in international management from the University of Maryland.
Mr. Chalke oversees the commercialization of Mortgage Harmony’s innovative mortgage
products and services. Prior to joining the company, he founded and recently sold
Finetre Corp., an electronic platform for buying and selling annuities that transformed
the delivery of annuity products. An actuary by training, Mr. Chalke founded AnnuityNet
in 1997 to reengineer the variable annuity market by automating the sales process
and stripping the steep broker commissions from the equation. In 2000, he renamed
the company Finetre and evolved the business model to become a business-to-business
exchange, which ultimately handled more than $80 billion in annuity transactions
for the nation’s largest brokerage firms. Mr. Chalke created his first business
in the early 80s at the age of 25. Chalke Incorporated developed risk management
software that was quickly adopted by the larger players in the insurance industry.
Mr. Chalke holds a degree in mathematics from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and
has taught graduate-level finance theory at George Mason University.
ADVISORY BOARD
Mr. Chapman is responsible for all mortgage related activities for 1st Commonwealth
Bank of Virginia - credit policy, investor relations, secondary loan procedures
and loan origination services. Mr. Chapman has twenty years experience in the financial
services industry, mainly as a wholesale mortgage banking executive. He was an executive
vice president for Legacy Bank, First National Bank of Arizona and GreenPoint Financial.
Mr. Chapman has extensive experience in capital markets, regulatory compliance,
and sales. Mr. Chapman holds a bachelors degree in Government from St. Lawrence
University in New York.
Mr. Claudio leads an international promotional and financial services enterprise
based in the Washington D.C. area with a focus on the Americas-wide Hispanic markets.
The Claudio Group is focused on a variety of industries, including telecommunications,
mortgage, luxury hospitality, and multimedia. An advocate for the Hispanic community,
Mr. Claudio has been involved in an array of charitable projects, including immigration
reform and educational opportunities. Additionally, he is the principal of Escape
Foreclosure LLC, where he leads a team of consultants educating and helping the
Latin American community in the D.C. area on how to save their homes from foreclosure.
He was previously an executive vice president for Pinnacle Financial Corporation
and leader of its National Emerging Markets Division. Mr. Claudio’s Washington-based
international and public affairs endeavors include working closely with the Latin
American diplomatic community and the various participants in the financial services
industry restructuring community. Mr. Claudio, born in West Germany, was raised
in Puerto Rico, and resides in Northern Virginia. He attended the University of
Puerto Rico where he was a pre-med student.
Mr. Douthit has extensive experience in the Capital Markets, including housing finance
consulting, mortgage portfolio management, and operational risk management. Recent
consulting engagements include an analysis of a large insurance company’s valuation
process and market events that resulted in large losses on its credit default swap
book, and helping a hedge fund navigate the housing and credit crisis. Prior to
becoming a consultant, he led team of traders and analysts at Fannie Mae to maximize
mortgage portfolio returns. He championed large, complex systems projects and achieved
cross-organizational project acceptance by properly linking business transactions
with accounting and control infrastructure; he has effectively defended business
processes to oversight and regulatory bodies. Mr. Douthit has a master’s degree
in Finance from American University and bachelor’s degree in Economics & Political
Science from the University of Delaware.
Mr. Hendricks is a founder and principal of Taradin Services Ltd., a venture capital,
private equity and real estate investment firm. Mr. Hendricks previously served
as the Managing Director of Bulgari Hotels & Resorts, a joint venture between Marriott
International Inc. and the renowned Italian luxury company, where he was responsible
for all aspects of brand and product development. During this time, he was also
a member of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, LLC Corporate Steering Committee. Prior
to this assignment, Mr. Hendricks held positions in development and finance with
Marriott International in Switzerland and at Marriott headquarters in Maryland.
In 2007, Mr. Hendricks worked with JWM Family Enterprises, and Thomas Point Ventures,
LP, both private investments companies owned by the J.W. Marriott family, as Managing
Director of Investments and Business Development. Mr. Hendricks began his career
as an international and admiralty lawyer and later became a corporate and private
equity lawyer and investor. He has been a co-founder, director and/or early-stage
investor in a number of businesses, and a principal in a number of private real
estate ventures. Mr. Hendricks holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of
Southern California, master’s degree from the London School of Economics, and J.D.
from Brigham Young University. He has also studied at the Centro de Estudias Internacionales,
Madrid and Regent’s College, London.
Dr. Little has extensive experience in planning, fiscal management, preparation
of grants, program evaluation, formation of corporate partnerships, and coordination
of intergovernmental services. He has a distinguished background in affordable housing
initiatives. In his current position, one of his many roles is preparing testimonies
for congressional hearings and roundtable discussions with foundations on housing
policies and redevelopment principles. Dr. Little was director of resident services
for the District of Columbia Housing Authority in Washington, D.C. from 2004 to
2008, associate deputy director of Housing Authority of Baltimore City from 2000
too 2004, executive director of The Empowerment Network Foundation from 1999 to
2000 and director of STEP-UP Program for the Housing Authority of Baltimore City
from 1989 to1999. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Morgan State University, a master’s
in social work from University of Pennsylvania and a doctorate in philosophy from
University of Maryland, Baltimore.
Leonard Mills, Ph.D. CFA, has 25 years of experience in providing fixed income analytics,
quantitative investment research, pricing and portfolio strategies, and economic
research. His career includes 15 years in research, analytics and portfolio strategy
for Fannie Mae’s investment management business. He is currently president of PI
Analytics, an independent consulting firm. He is an expert in modeling residential
and commercial mortgages, real estate equity investments, structured finance products,
derivatives pricing, portfolio risk measurement and strategies, capital allocation,
investment accounting standards, and analytic application development. Dr. Mills
has taught economics and finance at Tulane University, the University of Pennsylvania
(Wharton), the University of Maryland (Smith), and the Johns Hopkins University
(Carey). He holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Hamden-Sydney and a doctorate
in economics from Tulane University.
Ms. Ostmann is responsible for the operations of public relations firm Rose Communications
as well as the strategic direction of the programs the team manages for its clients
in the health care, publishing, design and construction, and financial services
industries. She started in the marketing communications business 15 years ago as
a copywriter. Before launching Rose Communications in 2003, she led the consumer
practice at Euro RSCG in New York. In this position, she created and directed communications
strategies for some of the most recognized brands in business, including Procter
& Gamble, Consumer Reports, Tommy Hilfiger, United Airlines and Sony, as well as
a number of start-up firms. Her financial services experience includes work on behalf
of Scottrade, TD Bank, Mercantile Bankshares (now PNC) and Annuity Net/Finetre,
among others. Rosemary spent the first seven years of her career in Baltimore doing
public relations inside two different advertising agencies and working with consumer,
business-to-business and non-profit clients. Rosemary graduated magna cum laude
from the University of Maryland’s College of Journalism with a minor in Spanish.
On July 29, 2009, Secretary Janet Napolitano announced the appointment of Richard
Spires—who brings decades of experience managing complex information technology
systems—as Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Department of Homeland Security.
As Chief Information Officer, Mr. Spires will be responsible for managing and directing
information management support processes—combining the functions of information
technology and telecommunications to provide coordinated support strategies for
meeting DHS-mission related information needs. Mr. Spires specializes in senior-level
operations and information technology issues for large-scale corporations and United
States federal government entities. In 2007 and 2008, Mr. Spires served as the deputy
commissioner for operations support for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). In this
capacity, he had overall responsibility for a $3 billion budget and a 12,000-employee
organization that provides key support and administrative functions for the IRS.
Prior to this post, Mr. Spires served as the IRS’ chief information officer (CIO),
where he had oversight of the organization accountable for administering more than
200 million United States taxpayer records. He also previously served as the associate
CIO for applications development. Before joining the IRS, Mr. Spires served as president,
chief operating officer, and director of Mantas, Inc., a leading software vendor
that provides business intelligence solutions to the financial services industry.
There he led efforts to raise $29 million in venture funding. Prior to Mantas, Mr.
Spires spent more than 16 years serving in a number of technical and managerial
positions at SRA International. Mr. Spires received a bachelor’s degree in electrical
engineering and a bachelor’s degree in mathematical sciences from the University
of Cincinnati. He also holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the
George Washington University. Mr. Spires was named a Distinguished Alumnus of the
University of Cincinnati’s College of Engineering in 2006. He was also named to
the FED 100 list for 2006, recognizing him as one of the 100 people who had the
most influence in Federal Government information technology for that year.
Deborah is Senior Vice President, Mortgage Solutions for ABA Business Solutions.
In that role, she is responsible for developing successful partnerships between
the community banking industry and the mortgage finance industry. Since inception,
the partnerships have produced over $150 billion in business.
She is also President & COO of Community Bank Mortgage LLC an ABA subsidiary organization
co-owned with bankers. The LLC launched in September 2007 to serve as a cooperative-like
structure for community banks that are active in the secondary markets.
Prior to joining ABA Business Solutions, Deborah was a managing director at Pedestal
Inc. a B2B Internet mortgage-trading firm. Prior to that, she spent 14 years at
Fannie Mae in various management positions including Director of Single Family Product
Development and Director of Transactions Management.
Deborah attended Georgetown University and received degrees in English Literature
and Economics. She also holds an MBA in Finance from The George Washington University.
